Bruce wants to sign Onomah permanently
Steve Bruce has talked up an unlikely summer move for Tottenham youngster Josh Onomah.
As per the London Evening Standard, Bruce says he would love to sign the player permanently, but admits he would need to break the bank in order to bring him to Villa Park.
Josh Onomah was terrific today. We’ll try to break the bank for him! But we know Spurs have got a very good player there.
Onomah has starred for Villa in recent weeks, who have won four out of their last five league games.
The England youngster is highly thought of at Spurs, making a permanent move unlikely, but he was allowed to leave temporarily in the summer in order to continue his development.
Onomah has featured 12 times for Villa this season, six of which have come from the start. During those games he has managed to score twice for Bruce’s side.
Despite a permanent deal looking unlikely, Villa could take hope from the emergence of Harry Winks, who recently earned his first senior England call-up, meaning there’s plenty of competition in Onomah’s way at Spurs.
