Club confirm Wyness’ departure

Aston Villa have confirmed the departure of chief executive Keith Wyness, via their official club website.

Wyness leaves the club following the club’s financial struggles since their play-off defeat to Fulham at Wembley.

Reports emerged at the beginning of the week that suggested Wyness will pursue legal action against the club for constructive dismissal.

Speaking on their official statement, the club addressed reports about the aforementioned legal action, stating they ‘will be happy to defend legal proceedings if called on to do so’.

Wyness is likely to be followed out of Villa Park by a number of key first-team players with the club being forced into selling ahead of the new season in order to balance the books.

Reports have linked Jack Grealish with a Premier League move if any potential suitors can meet Villa’s £30 million asking price, while the likes of James Chester and Jonathan Kodjia are also expected to leave Villa Park.
