Aston Villa line up move for Trent Sainsbury

Aston Villa are interested in signing defender Trent Sainsbury from Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning, according to reports.

The 26-year-old has put in two impressive performances for Australia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and with John Terry’s Villa career seeming to be over, the club are in the market for another centre back.

QPR are also interested in Sainsbury, who is apparently keen to make a move to Europe.

With only one year left on his contract with Jiangsu Suning, it seems highly likely that Sainsbury will be allowed to leave this summer and it appears that Villa are one of the clubs interested in signing him.

Queen’s Park Rangers are also interested in Sainsbury, who spent the second half of last season on at Swiss club Grasshoppers Zurich.

Villa’s must publicised financial worries will likely be a concern to Sainsbury but the chance to play at such a level might not come around too often and as such, he might be willing to make a move to Villa Park.
