Aston Villa are one of three Championship sides in talks to sign David McGoldrick with West Brom and Bristol City also keen.
Writing on Football Insider, Pete O’Rourke reports that all three clubs are considering moves for the experienced forward.
McGoldrick is a free agent after leaving Ipswich Town at the end of last season.
The 30-year-old will appeal to the trio of clubs by arriving on a free transfer, as well as providing a wealth of Championship experience.
Aston Villa are also in the market for a striker with Lewis Grabban returning to parent club Bournemouth following his loan spell at the club.
Steve Bruce’s men will be looking to complete bargain transfers this summer with the on-going financial problems surrounding the club.
The Baggies themselves are looking to shake up their squad ahead of their return to the second tier.
Darren Moore’s side have been looking to add goals to their squad this summer and missed out on the signature of Bobby Reid, who turned down a move to the Hawthorns to join Cardiff City.
