Aston Villa will reportedly rival Cardiff City over a deal to sign former Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo.
According to reports in Turkey, both clubs are interested in signing the player from Besiktas, who are preparing to offload the forward.
Neil Warnock had been keen to wrap up a deal to bring the player back to the Premier League as he goes in search of extra goals.
Negredo recently had a spell in the Premier League with Middlesbrough but failed to impress as he was unable to help the club stay in the top flight.
Despite the mixed spell at Boro, he would certainly be considered as something of a coup should Villa get the deal over the line.

The striker has endured a mixed spell in his career after leaving Manchester City with spells in Spain, Turkey and England, but he did find the back of the net on 15 occasions last season in all competitions.
Steve Bruce’s side are looking to end the window strongly after a summer of uncertainty off the pitch.
