Aston Villa will face late competition from Celtic in the race to sign John McGinn following the news that the Hoops have matched the club’s offer to sign him.
According to reports from the Daily Record, the Hoops have put their hands in their pockets and matched the offer put forward by Villa.
The midfielder was given permission to travel to Villa and hold talks over a potential move to the Championship.
Steve Bruce’s side looked set to beat Celtic to the player, who had been linked with a move to Parkhead throughout the summer.

Brendan Rodgers even voiced his displeasure about Celtic’s inability to wrap up a deal to sign McGinn in time.
Both clubs are now believed to be close to an agreement with Hibs, with the player now being faced with a decision to make about his next move.
It has been well documented that McGinn is a boyhood Celtic fan, which may boost the Hoops’ chances of securing a deal.
