Aston Villa will go head-to-head with Celtic and Rangers in a bid to sign Nottingham Forest’s Joe Worrall, who has been told he can leave on loan.
As reported by Football Insider, Steve Bruce wants Worrall to replace former Chelsea defender John Terry, who left the club at the end of last season.
The club have failed to replace Terry after his contract with the club expired.
Rangers are said to be leading the race to sign Worrall after lodging an enquiry over a deal, but rivals Celtic are also keen.
It has been well documented that Brendan Rodgers and Celtic are in the market for another central defender.

The club have been linked with the likes of Scott McKenna and Jeffrey Bruma, but both now seem unlikely arrivals.
With Dedryck Boyata’s future still up in the air, another central defender would ease the pressure on the Hoops squad.
Worrall is very highly thought of at Forest and has attracted Premier League interest in the past.
