Villa facing Souare competition from Bolton Wanderers

Villa will have a fight on their hands to secure the signature of Pape Souare.

The Crystal Palace left-back has fallen out of favour with Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park, and is unlikely to see much of the pitch with Patrick Van Aanholt and Jeffrey Schlupp holding down the left-hand side of the pitch.

Hoping to profit with a loan of the 28-year-old, Villa seemingly are not alone in their pursuit of the Senegalese international.

Pete O’Rourke claims Bolton are also in the Souare stakes, with manager Phil Parkinson hoping to tempt the defender to Lancashire.

Villa came close to securing a deal for Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan, but had their deal hijacked at the eleventh hour by Fulham.

Steve Bruce is keen to add a defender before the transfer deadline.
