Aston Villa are considering a move for free agent James Collins to improve their defensive options.
According to The Birmingham Mail, Villa are looking at different options in regards to free agents and Collins is one of the players who has been discussed.
Villa are yet to make formal contact with Collins, but their interest could become serious if they are unable to secure a deal for John Terry.

Steve Bruce is keen to bring Terry back to the club after he left over the summer after a year at Villa Park.
The former Chelsea defender was thought to be joining Sporting Lisbon, but his move to Portugal has broken down.
This could open the door for a return to Villa, with Collins seemingly a back-up option at this point.
Collins is a free agent after leaving West Ham at the end of last season – having made 149 appearances for the Hammers.
