Villa preparing big-money contract offer to meet Terry’s demands

Aston Villa believe they can now afford to pay John Terry’s big-money wages as they continue to ponder a move for the defender.

According to a report from the Daily Star, the summer takeover at the club has eased any financial worries at Villa Park.

Terry left Villa at the end of last season, with the club certain they would not be able to afford the player under the previous financial circumstances that surrounded the club, but that no longer appears to be the case.

The 37-year-old is believed to be demanding around £60,000 a week.

If reports are to be believed, Villa are in a straight battle with Russian side Spartak Moscow to sign Terry.

The ex-Chelsea defender has agreed terms to join Spartak, but recent claims seem to suggest he is having second thoughts about a move abroad.

Villa are short at the back after allowing Tommy Elphick to leave and join Hull City earlier this summer.
