Hogan closing in on first-team return

Aston Villa are hoping to have Scott Hogan back in contention for Friday’s trip to face Bristol City.

Hogan has not played since last season, after suffering a groin injury before pre-season.

That caused him to miss all of pre-season and the first two months of the Championship season.

According to The Express and Star, Hogan has been back in training for two weeks and is working hard to make himself available this week.

The forward scored nine goals in all competitions last campaign, with six of those coming in the Championship.

Hogan has scored ten goals in 54 appearances for Villa since joining from Brentford for a fee in the region of £10m.

The 26-year-old had scored 21 goals in 33 Championship appearances for Brentford before his switch to Villa Park in January 2017.

Villa are looking for a win after their loss to Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.
