Former Manchester United assistant Rui Faria is now expected to take the Aston Villa job, with John Terry as his number two.
The Mirror reports that the two are expected to work together, despite both previously been linked with the job.
Terry was linked with the number two position under Thierry Henry, but the latter is now being linked with Monaco.

Faria has been heavily linked with a role in management after leaving Manchester United.
A host of names have been linked with the Villa job, from Paulo Fonseca to Brendan Rodgers, but it appears that the Championship side are closing in on an appointment.
Faria has worked closely with Mourinho throughout his career, with spells at Porto, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Inter and Manchester United.
He is someone Terry knows well from his time at Chelsa, while the defender has also maintained a close relationship with Mourinho since the pair left Stamford Bridge.
