Rui Faria has reportedly rejected the chance to take over at Aston Villa after emerging as a favourite for the job.
Henry Winter reports that while the former Manchester United number two ‘has respect for the club’, he is not interested in taking the job at this time.
Faria was heavily linked with the Villa job when it became clear that the club had missed out on Thierry Henry.
Jose Mourinho’s former right-hand man was reportedly set to take the job and join up with former Aston Villa defender John Terry as his number two.
He has been very open in his desire to move into management after working as a number two, but it appears he will not be starting his career as a number one at Villa Park.
It is yet to be seen where this leaves Terry, who remains under consideration for a position at the club.
