Aston Villa will reportedly turn their attention to Brentford boss Dean Smith after being rejected by Rui Faria and Thierry Henry.
The Daily Mail claims that the Championship side are preparing to make an approach for Smith to take over from Steve Bruce.
Smith has earned plenty of plaudits in the Championship and for his work at Walsall, building a reputation for playing attacking football, something that would certainly be welcomed by the club’s supporters.
Villa will be hoping that the lure of working for his boyhood club will be enough to tempt Smith into the position.
It has been well documented that Smith was a Villa fan growing up, but the club faces a fight to prise him away from Brentford.
Following their fantastic start to the season, the Bees will be desperate to keep hold of Smith.
The report claims that John Terry is likely to be worked into Smith’s backroom staff should he accept the position.
