The report claims that a host of clubs have sent scouts to keep a close eye on the player in preparation for the upcoming transfer window.
Marshall is a Jamaican international and is very highly thought of in his home country.
New Villa boss Smith will be looking to make an impact in the January window after being promised there will be money to spend.
