Villa could recall three senior players in January

Aston Villa could recall as many as three senior players during the January transfer window.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Dean Smith’s side have the option to recall Tommy Elphick, Aaron Tshibola and Jed Steer.

The trio of players are out on loan at Hull City, Kilmarnock and Charlton respectively, but could all be given the opportunity to impress the new Villa boss.

However, Gary Gardner is one of the many Villa players out on loan that will not be returning to the club anytime soon.

The midfielder joined Birmingham on a season-long loan and Villa do not have the option to cut the deal short.

Elphick has been one of the names most heavily linked with a return to the club, as Villa remain short of options at the back.

Tshibola has also talked up a return in a bid to break into the first-team squad under Smith.
