Dean Smith has been starstruck by John McGinn.
In his first season in Villa colours, the Scotsman has established himself as one of the premier players in the division.
Joining from Hibernian in the summer for £2.75 million, McGinn has been praised by fans, contemporaries, and now his manager.
Quoted by the Birmingham Mail, Smith said:
He’s been outstanding,
I can only talk about since I have been here but he is a better player than I could have dreamed of. He has energy and quality, bundles of it. We are very fortunate to have him
McGinn has started 15 games in the Championship so far this season, and appears to have become a favourite of the ex-Brentford boss, who has now been in his new role for over a month.
The 24-year-old scored and assisted in the 3-0 win against Derby on Saturday, and was rightfully named man of the match for his efforts.
