Collins set for Ipswich move after “tearing up” Villa deal
James Collins is reportedly set for a move to Ipswich Town after “ripping up” his contract with Aston Villa just before Christmas, according to HITC.
The former Villa defender had reportedly signed a short term deal to return to Villa Park but picked up an injury just 60 minutes after signing the £10,000 p/w deal.
Collins’ return to Villa looks to be off after Dean Smith secured the signing of Kourtney Hause on loan until the end of the season, giving Villa some defensive depth that they so desperately needed.
Now it looks like Collins will be making the move to struggling Ipswich Town, who sit bottom of the Championship.
The Tractor Boys are 10 points off safety and look all but doomed for the drop. However, Collins looks like he’s on his way to Suffolk, and the former Villa and West Ham man could add some quality to the struggling Ipswich defence.
Ipswich boss Paul Lambert is looking to add some quality to his young side, with former boss Paul Hurst selling Town’s top players such as Martyn Waghorn and Joe Garner over the summer.
