Villa interested in signing Bournemouth defender on loan
According to a report in the Daily Mail, Aston Villa are interested in signing Bournemouth’s Tyrone Mings on loan for the rest of the season.
The 25-year-old defender, who can play as a left-back or a centre-back, has played just over two hours of Premier League football this season as Eddie Howe prefers to play Nathan Ake and Steve Cook as the two centre-backs, while Adam Smith is preferred at left-back.
However, despite the fact that he is surplus to requirements at the moment, it is believed that Mings will only be allowed to leave if the Cherries are able to complete a deal for Brentford’s Chris Mepham.
Dean Smith desperately needs to strengthen his defense this month, and Mings would certainly be an improvement on Neil Taylor at left-back. Furthermore, he has Championship experience as he was at Ipswich for three seasons.
If Bournemouth decide to let him leave on a loan deal, it is thought that Villa will have to compete with West Brom to acquire his services.
