Villa have made an offer for young French defender

According to Trendance Ouest, a French news outlet, Frederic Guilbert’s agent has confirmed that Aston Villa have submitted a bid for the player.

When questioned about it, he replied that:

“This is an offer of a few million euros, with bonuses depending on his playing time and a possible rise in the Premier League.”

Dean Smith desperately needs to improve his defence this month as they are conceding too many goals. In fact, after shipping another two goals against Hull this weekend, Smith’s side have conceded 25 goals in 15 league matches. If we include the goals they shipped under Bruce, Villa have the third worst defensive record in the Championship.

Guilbert was voted as Caen’s player of the season last year, and he has carried his fine form into this current campaign as well. Therefore, if Villa are able to persuade Ligue 1 side to depart with their talented right-back, it would definitely be an upgrade on the likes of Ahmed Elmohamady and Alan Hutton
