According to a report in the Birmingham Mail, Andre Moreira will soon return to Atletico Madrid as Aston Villa are planning to cancel his season-long loan contract.
Bruce signed the 23-year-old in the summer so that he could provide some competition for Orjan Nyland, but he has gone on to make only two appearances in the Carabao Cup.
During both of those appearances he looked nervous and unsure of himself and Villa fans questioned whether he was good enough to play for Villa.
Dean Smith clearly agreed with them as since he took over in October, Moreira hasn’t even made it on to the bench. When Nyland was ruled out for the rest of the season with a ruptured Achilles at the end of December, Jed Steer and Mark Bunn were preferred instead.
Moreira will be the second player to leave Villa Park permanently this month as Villa also saw fit to send Yannick Bolasie back to Everton on Monday evening.
