Grealish to return to training next week

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has confirmed that Jack Grealish is set to return to training next week, the Birmingham Mail reports.

Grealish hasn’t featured for the Midlands’ side since his side’s local derby against West Bromwich Albion on December 7; a game which ended in a 2-2 draw.

The midfielder suffered an injury to his shin during that Championship match but is now set to return to light training next week.

Grealish’s return is a huge boost for the claret and blue side who without him have won just one of their last eight matches.

With February a busy month of fixtures for Villa, Smith and Villa fans alike will be delighted to have the young Englishman back in the fold shortly.

Smith gave an update on Grealish’s return to action when speaking to avfc.co.uk.

Jack is due to go out and run next week. That’s a big positive for him and us.

When he gleefully told me today he was due to run outside next week, he said, ‘You can arrange a game for me as well’.

He’s very keen to get out on the pitch. He has an enthusiasm for playing and wanting to play so we will certainly have to have the reins on him. But I will want him back as soon as we can as well.
