According to a report by Football Insider, Aston Villa are interested in bringing James Justin to Villa Park before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday night.
The 20-year-old, who is a right-back by trade but can also play at left-back or in the middle of the park, currently plays for Luton Town in League 1 and has been impressing everyone who has seen him play.
Dean Smith really needs to strengthen his defensive options this month as his side have conceded far too many goals, and it is believed that he feels that Justin, who is also an England U20 international, has the quality to perform well in the Championship.
However, there will be competition for his services as Stoke are also thought to be interested in signing him.
Stoke manager Nathan Jones already knows a lot about Justin as he worked with him when he was manager of Luton Town, and it is thought that he would love to work with the youngster again.
