Villa close to signing Mings

Championship side Aston Villa are believed to be close to securing a deal to sign Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings, according to the Express and Star.

West Bromwich Albion, Derby County and Villa have all been heavily linked with the full-backs services this January transfer window but it appears that it may be Villa who have won the race.

Bournemouth reportedly want a £1m fee that would see Mings leave the club on loan until the end of the season.

Despite this being quite a hefty sum of money for a six-month loan, Villa are in desperate need of a left-back before the window closes on Thursday.

Mings joined Bournemouth for £8m from Ipswich Town and would be a good addition to any Championship side having had plenty of experience in the second-tier.

Mings would become Villa’s third signing this month, with the Midlands’ side having already secured deals for Lovre Kalinic and Kortney Hause.
