According to reports in France, the 24-year-old is having a medical with Villa today, but he won’t join up with his new teammates until the summer.
The deal will cost Villa in the region of £4.3m + add ons, whilst Guilbert will sign a four-and-a-half year contract with the Championship side.
Villa have been linked with a move for Guilbert for a few weeks and it appears that the offer to loan him back for the rest of the season was enough for Caen to accept their offer.
The full-back came through the youth ranks at Caen, but left in 2013, before returning in 2017.
He’ll now stay with his home region club until the end of the campaign, before moving to England ahead of pre-season with Villa.
