Richards describes Villa stint as a “mental challenge”

Aston Villa defender Micah Richards has revealed he has no regrets about his move to Villa Park, though has described his time at the club as mentally tough after making his last appearance for Villa in October 2016, the Birmingham Mail report.

Richards is said to be looking to retire from football when his contract expires at the end of the season, following a mixed spell with Villa.

The 30-year-old moved to Villa Park in 2015 on a free transfer after his contract expired at Manchester City, and the defender has been reflecting on an injury-stricken time in Birmingham.

After receiving a Tweet from a fan who referenced his time at City, Richards replied:

Richards won two Premier League titles during his time in Manchester before a spell in Serie A with Fiorentina, and the defender made 13 appearances for England.
