Bjarnason’s career at Villa seems all but over

It is hard to see Birkir Bjarnason pulling on an Aston Villa shirt ever again.

Even with Jack Grealish, Henri Lansbury, and Tom Carroll all out injured, and John McGinn serving a two game ban for picking up his 10th yellow card of the season, the Icelandic international still couldn’t find his way onto the pitch for the game against Stoke on Saturday afternoon, not even as a substitute.

He could even struggle to keep his place on the bench for the game against Derby next week as the likes of Carroll and Grealish could make a return to the squad.

The 30-year-old has not played for Villa since he put in a very poor performance against Hull on the 19th of January.

It is believed that the club were willing to let him go in the January transfer window, but no suitable offers came in for him.

Therefore, due to the fact that he is so far down the pecking order at the moment, it is extremely hard to see him playing for Villa again, and we would be surprised if he is still at the club come the start of next season.
