According to the Derby Telegraph, Frank Lampard has claimed that Jack Grealish is one of the best players in the Championship when he is playing at his best.
Lampard was asked for his opinion on Villa’s star talent during his press conference on Thursday, and he pointed back to how well he played when Villa beat Derby 3-0 at Pride Park back in November.
He’s an outstanding player. He played very well against us a Pride Park. He’s matured a lot and is one of the best players in the league when he’s on form, for sure.
Dean Smith has been without Grealish for the last 13 games due to a shin injury, but he is fully fit again now. Therefore, Smith has to decide whether to risk throwing him straight back into the starting XI or not at the weekend.
Many Villa fans will probably want him to do just that as they have lacked a creative spark in the midfield during Grealish’s absence, but we will just have to wait and see what Smith thinks is best.
