Abraham praises Villa’s “unbelievable” run

Tammy Abraham has praised his teammates following Aston Villa’s eighth consecutive victory in the league, and believes Dean Smith’s side are on an “unbelievable” run.

The striker netted his 24th goal of the season to open the scoring at Villa Park; converting from the penalty spot after missing from 12 yards in midweek against Rotherham.

Conor Hourihane doubled Villa’s lead 10 minutes later, and Smith’s side held on for victory despite Famara Diedhiou’s strike giving the Robins hope of a comeback late on.

And speaking to Aston Villa TV following the game, Abraham revealed his delight with the club’s current run of form.

It’s unbelievable. I’m lost for words right now. Obviously coming off for the closing stages, I was just there shaking on the bench watching the game.

But we have a brilliant team. We dug deep. That’s what we keep doing. Eight games in a row is a massive achievement. We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy game. But we were on the front foot and could have been more ahead. We had a lot of chances. But when it mattered, we took them.

Villa are now fifth in the Championship, five points clear of Middlesbrough who are one place below the playoff spots.
