Villa boss Dean Smith is expecting there to be plenty of bids for playmaker Jack Grealish throughout the summer transfer period.

The midfielder has played a key part in Villa’s promotion bid which has helped the club turn their season around, as a bonus. His form has seen him named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.

The youngster was linked with a move to the Premier League last summer, with Tottenham the most interested party in securing the Englishman’s signature.

Grealish signed a new five-year contract with the club in September last year but Smith doesn’t think that will scare any clubs into making an offer.

Speaking about Grealish’s future to the Express and Star, he said:

It would be crazy if we didn’t get bids for him. But he has committed his future to the club.

Grealish grew up in Birmingham and has been part of Aston Villa since his youth. With that in mind, Smith suggests that there is still a lot of attraction at Villa Park to make him stay.

He has a long-term contract and he’s a Villa fan. He is captain of club now as well. There are an awful lot of things to keep him at the club.

He is the best player I have worked with, natural ability but a strong work ethic and strongest mindset people probably don’t see.

Grealish has enjoyed a good season for Villa in the Championship and is starting to really fulfil the huge potential he has often shown.

Aston Villa currently occupy one of the play-off positions and look set to lock horns with rivals West Brom in the semi-final.

Will Grealish be a Villa player next season?
