Aston Villa join race for teenage sensation Erkan Eyibil

Aston Villa have joined a plethora of clubs, including play-off rivals West Brom, in the race to sign German teenager Erkan Eyibil, according to Turkish-Football.

The 17-year-old, who has been labelled as the next Mesut Ozil, currently plies his trade with Mainz and has caught the eye of numerous clubs around Europe in recent months.

The teenager has scored 17 goals and has provided five assists in the number 10 role for Mainz’s youth sides this season.

Premier League outfits Newcastle United and West Ham United, along with Super Lig giants Besiktas and Fenerbahce are also thought to be interested in the midfielder.

The report suggests that the impressive youngster is keen on playing Premier League football in the immediate future, so Villa’s play-off semi-final against the Baggies could well prove crucial in their attempts to land Eyibil.

The left-footed attacking midfielder certainly looks like a future star, so the German could well be a shrewd signing by Villa if they manager to secure Eyibil’s services.
