Aston Villa interested in free agent Gary Hooper
Aston Villa are reportedly keen on securing the services of free agent Gary Hooper this summer, according to the Daily Record.
The 31-year-old has featured just six times for Sheffield Wednesday this season, scoring his only goal of the campaign against Dean Smith’s side back in April.
Hooper opened the scoring for Steve Bruce’s side before John McGinn, Albert Adomah and Tammy Abraham secured three vital points for Villa.
The experienced striker has recently been released by the Owls and is on the lookout for a new club, with Villa, Fulham and Scottish giants Celtic all monitoring the forward.
The signing may be unlikely for Villa if they earn promotion to the Premier League, with Hooper last turning out in the top flight with Norwich City back in 2015.
If Villa do earn promotion through the play-offs over the coming weeks, the club may well look to re-sign Tammy Abraham, who has enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Villa Park this season, scoring 25 times.
