Aston Villa are one of nine English teams interested in taking Juventus youngster Stephy Mavididi on loan next season.
That is according to a report on TEAMtalk, who say that Burnley, Derby, Everton, Fulham, Leeds, Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Southampton are the other sides hoping to land the 21-year-old forward.
Villa are currently looking for a striker as they prepare for their return to the Premier League, with Tammy Abraham’s plans still undecided.
Mavididi could be an alternative to the Chelsea man, who scored 25 goals for Villa in the Championship in 2018/19.
Mavididi joined the Italian champions from Arsenal a year ago, impressing for their U23’s in Serie C where he scored six goals in 32 games.
The former Charlton Athletic and Preston North End man finished the season as part of the first team squad, being named on the bench three times and making his debut in the 2-1 loss to SPAL in April.
Now, he could be on his way back to England, with a number of clubs hoping to add the promising player to their ranks and provide him with the opportunity to continue his progression with regular football in either the Premier League or the Championship.
Four more strikers Villa could target this summer
Uruguayan striker Gomez hit 13 goals in 35 appearances for Celta Vigo in La Liga last season, and is said to be a target for a number of Premier League teams. Reports suggest he will cost at least £35 million.
With Southampton looking to strengthen, Austin could be one of those to lose his place. With 106 appearances and 34 goals in the Premier League, Austin could be a good option for Dean Smith.
The Tanzanian international hit 32 goals in 51 games for KRC Genk last year, alerting a number of teams to his goal scoring abilities. The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Villa in recent days.
Roofe was a key part of Leeds’ push for promotion last season, scoring 14 goals. Despite Marcelo Bielsa’s side falling short in the end, Roofe could stil find himself in the Premier League with Villla interested.
