Anwar El Ghazi had an impressive campaign last season on loan at Aston Villa, and it came as no surprise to see the club make his stay permanent.
The winger has joined from Lille after being key to Villa’s promotion and will no doubt be a key part of Dean Smith’s side in the coming season as they look to stay up in the Premier League.
It was reported from The Express and Star that Villa paid £8 million for the winger, which appeared to have been good value for money given the role he played in the club’s return to the top flight.
However, according to French outlet L’Equipe, Smith saw his side recruit El Ghazi for even cheaper, with a meagre figure worth just £4.5 million touted.
Villa will be hoping that their dynamic winger can continue to shine in the Premier League as he did in the Championship, as they look to consolidate their status in the top tier of English football once more.
Four players who Villa could sign this summer
Villa will be hopeful of getting the defender back permanently following a successful loan spell.
Mings was a crucial part of Villa’s promotion campaign and may be interested in returning for their first season back in the Premier League.
Butland is the latest player to be linked with Villa as they look to strengthen their goalkeeping options.
The England international is expected to leave Stoke City before the start of the next campaign.
The striker had an excellent season at Brentford, and Dean Smith is a huge admirer of the forward, who he bought to Griffin Park.
Maupay would provide Villa with a goal threat in the Premier League.
The full-back won promotion to the Championship with Luton Town last season, and the defender has been linked with a move to Villa Park.
He would be an astute, forward-thinking buy.
