Dean Smith’s Aston Villa look set to play former Premier League champions Leicester City on the opening day of the season.
A leaked set of fixtures for the opening day of the new campaign has been released by the Mirror ahead of an official announcement on Thursday.
While these fixtures have not been confirmed, the picture appears to show a full programme of games, with Villa facing off against Leicester on Sunday, in a game that will be shown on Sky Sports’ first Super Sunday.
Villa will reportedly start the season at home, with Leicester travelling to Villa Park for a 13:30 kick off.
While it must be said that these fixtures are unverified, it is certainly a favourable opening day for Villa given some of the teams that they could have come up against.
Villa will now continue their preparations for the new season as Smith looks to build a team capable of competing in the Premier League.
