Aston Villa are reportedly considering a move for Cordoba forward Andres Martin, according to Spanish outlet Cordopolis, cited by This is Futbol.
The report claims that Cordoba will consider parting ways with the highly-rated teenager for just £2.7m this summer, with Villa the only English side linked with the striker.
Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, along with Sevilla, Rayo Vallecano and German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt are all tracking the player following an impressive breakthrough campaign.
Martin scored seven times in 32 appearances for Cordoba last season in the La Liga 2, with Cordoba suffering relegation to Spain’s third tier.
The teenager looks set to move on this summer and Villa need to bolster their attacking options, so a move for Martin could prove to be a smart signing.
Martin wouldn’t be brought in to lead the line for Smith’s side, however, with the Spaniard tipped as a future star, at £2.7m, Villa may well decide to firm up their interest with a concrete offer.
Who could lead the line for Villa next season?
If Chelsea allow Abraham to depart Stamford Bridge again this summer, Villa will more than likely make a move for the player after helping them to the Premier League last season.
Brentford striker Maupay has regularly found the back of the net in the Championship and looks ready to make the move up to the Premier League, so could be a player Villa pursue.
Another striker who has impressed in the Championship, Swansea City’s McBurnie could be another option for Dean Smith. The Scot would more than likely be open to a move to Villa Park if they show interest.
An ambitious move, Celta Vigo’s Gomez looks set to make the switch to England this summer. He’s been strongly linked with West Ham, so Villa could look to battle the Hammers.
