Dean Smith’s newly-promoted Aston Villa side are preparing for their season in the Premier League and remain hopeful that Said Benrahma will be part of their squad.
Villa managed to gain promotion after beating Frank Lampard’s Derby County in the play-off final at Wembley.
Now, Smith has been looking into players who he could add to his squad to ensure they will maintain their position in the Premier League.
According to reports on the Express and Star, Villa are continuing to work on a deal to sign Benrahma from Brentford.
However, Brentford manager Thomas Frank won’t be giving up Benrahma easily as the club have put a £20 million price tag on the winger.
Although, the report claims that Villa are not going to pay that much and will be negotiating a lower price for the 23-year-old in the upcoming weeks.
It seems as though Brentford’s 11-goal winger is one of Villa’s top targets, but they’ll have to work hard to get a deal done.
Who are the club's other reported transfer targets?
Phillips has just had his best season yet under Marcelo Bielsa and Villa are said to be extremely interested in the youngster. However, the Leeds man is not interested in a move away from Elland Road so it’ll be tough for Villa to secure his services.
Nottingham Forest’s Lolley is another player Villa are interested in, but Forest are not giving him away easily and won’t be budging from the £15 million they want for him.
Jack Butland is one of the keepers Villa are interested in, the England international would be a great asset to Villa’s squad and would be a huge help in the Premier League.
Villa are confident in their ability to secure a permanent deal with Bournemouth for Mings after his recent loan spell at the club. He would be a great signing if he continues performing the way he did last season.
