Aston Villa are interested in the possibility of signing AC Milan striker Fabio Borini this summer after being told he has no future at the Serie A club.
The 28-year-old is earning €2.5million per season at the San Siro, meaning interest in Italy is low but Premier League clubs may fancy giving him a chance.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, cited by Ghana Soccernet, Villa are in the running alongside Crystal Palace for Borini’s signature, although the Eagles are considered favourites.
The former Chelsea, Swansea City, Liverpool and Sunderland frontman has spent two seasons in Milan, scoring eight goals in 72 games, but new manager Marco Giampaolo has made it clear he isn’t in his plans going forward.
It is thought that a bid worth £6million should be enough to lure him away from Italy and he could act as either a good partner or back-up option to Wesley up front for Villa this season.
