Leeds not interested in Villa target Cahill

Leeds United have no interest in signing former Chelsea defender Gary Cahill, despite recent reports suggesting the Whites were keen on the free agent, according to Sky Sports.

The former England international is reportedly being tracked by Aston Villa, with Dean Smith keen on bolstering his defensive options even further this summer.

Villa recently announced the signing of Ezri Konsa from Brentford and have also added Kortney Hause and Tyrone Mings to their defensive ranks on permanent deals.

Smith has reportedly spent over £80 million on seven summer signings and Villa have recently held talks with Cahill ahead of a potential Villa Park return.

The 33-year-old is looking for regular game time next season after turning out just eight times under Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge during the previous campaign.

A potential deal for Cahill still has work to do, however, with Leeds not thought to be interested in the player, a move for the experienced centre-back could well materialise over the coming weeks.
