Aston Villa tracking in-demand midfielder Josip Vukovic
Aston Villa, Leeds United and Southampton are all thought to be keen on signing Croatian midfielder Josip Vukovic, talkSPORT report.
The 27-year-old, who currently plies his trade with Primeira Liga side Maritimo, has already turned down moves to Benfica, Lille and an unnamed Russian club, with the midfielder interested in a switch to England.
Dean Smith has already spent over £100 million on 10 summer recruits, with Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton and Club Brugge midfielder Marvelous Nakamba also expected to head through the door at Villa Park before the new season.
It appears as if a move for Vukovic could also be on the cards, with the European thought to be available for just £1.5 million.
Leeds are tracking the player as a contingency plan to losing Kalvin Phillips, while Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl could launch a move for the player if he manages to shift some senior members of his side out the door at St Mary’s.
Villa appear to be extremely interested in the midfielder, however, the club may well have to battle both Leeds and Southampton in the coming days if they want to bring the highly-rated midfielder to England.
