New Aston Villa signing Mbwana Samatta made his Premier League debut in the 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.
The Tanzanian international managed to get his name on the scoresheet, nodding in bravely as goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale came to punch the ball in the second half.
As confirmed on Villa’s official website, the 27-year-old signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the club in January.
Samatta became the first Tanzanian to feature in the Premier League, as reported on BBC Sport, and many Aston Villa fans liked what they saw from the former KRC Genk striker.
The attacker was in fine goalscoring form prior to his move to Villa Park, netting three times in six UEFA Champions League group stage matches and also finding the net seven times in the Belgian top-flight (Transfermarkt).
His impressive record could help Villa survive relegation this season, especially because of his aerial prowess after he won five aerial duels against the Cherries (WhoScored).
These Villa fans are impressed with what he’s produced so far.
