Aston Villa must pay £18m to get Milot Rashica

Aston Villa have been told they must pay £18m (€20m) in order to sign Milot Rashica from Werder Bremen by the Bundesliga club’s sports director Frank Baumann, as reported by BILD.

Baumann has confirmed Villa’s interest in the winger as manager Dean Smith goes in pursuit of additional goalscoring threats.

Having already landed Ollie Watkins from Brentford, Smith is now keen to back the signing up by adding more firepower to his squad.

Bauffmann told BildSport:

There are several interested parties, and Aston Villa is one of them.

Rashica was the star man in an otherwise dismal 2019/20 season for Bremen, who only survived in the German top-flight via a playoff victory.

However the 24-year-old Kosovo international was sublime throughout the season, notching up eight goals and five assists, earning him plenty of admirers from inside Germany and across Europe.

The Bremen director went on to say about the wingers’ future:

Milot is with us in the rehab process to get himself in good shape. Whether for us or another club, we’ll see.

Bild report that Bremen expect to receive bids of around €20m plus for the player, a valuation that should be seriously considered by the Villa hierarchy.

Having proved his worth at the top level in a struggling side Rashica should definitely be at the very top of Smith’s wanted list as the season gets into full flow.

matchday.
