Many Aston Villa fans look back at Remi Garde’s time in charge

Many Aston Villa fans have looked back on Frenchman Remi Garde‘s time in charge of the club.

After a spell with Ligue 1 side Lyon, Garde was installed as manager at Villa Park on a three-year contract as the Midlands side sat rock bottom of the Premier League in the 2015/16 season.

Despite a good start to life as Villa manager, drawing with Manchester City 0-0, Garde lasted until March as his managerial record turned rather bleak.

Overseeing Villa in 23 games, Garde was famous for dropping young starlet Jack Grealish in what was seen as a disciplined approach from the Frenchman.

A tally of 13 defeats, seven draws and just three wins in those 23 games saw Garde shown the door after just four months in charge.

Roberto Di Matteo replaced the Frenchman before Villa suffered relegation to the Championship and were later managed by Steve Bruce and then Dean Smith, who led the Midlands side back to the Premier League.

Reacting to a tweet shared by Twitter account Aston Villa News, these fans reacted to Garde’s “painful” time in charge.
