Emiliano Martinez was the hero for Argentina after saving three penalties in the side’s Copa America semi-final clash with Colombia and is still celebrating the victory in his Instagram story.
The 28-year-old also shared a video of his son mimicking his actions in goal before saving a shot in a football cage. Martinez’s wife Mandinha made a video of their son watching Emi being the hero for Argentina. That was reposted too.

Martinez has made seven appearances for the national team, claiming the proverbial No.1 jersey off the back of his form at Aston Villa last season. His triple penalty save in this week’s shootout will elevate his reputation further, so Argentineans will have to thank Martinez if the side go all the way.
Villa supporters won’t be surprised at how good the 28-year-old has been for his country as they’ve seen it all at club level. Martinez kept 15 clean sheets from 38 games at Villa and has kept four clean sheets from the seven games for Argentina, conceding just three goals. It’s been one incredible season.
