Manchester City have made it a summer priority to sign Jack Grealish and Dean Smith of Eurosport says they’re reportedly closing on in his signature, so it’s no surprise social media is abuzz with the news.

City supporters are understandably excited at the prospect of bringing Grealish to the Etihad Stadium while Villa fans are fearing the loss of their most influential players.

The 25-year-old has made 213 appearances in all competitions, scoring 32 goals with 43 assists. Grealish made 27 appearances across the board last season, scoring seven goals with 12 assists, earning him the attention of City, Manchester United and Arsenal among others.

City interest in Grealish is interesting given they’re overstocked in attack – Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, Ferran Torres and Riyad Mahrez – but they might sell an existing player to bring him in.

The 25-year-old won’t come cheap with a reported £100m asking price either, so Villa are in a strong negotiating position. Villa fans are nervous about losing Grealish but they should be confident his valuation won’t be matched if City are trying to sign Harry Kane too.
