Aston Villa haven’t wasted any time strengthening their squad this summer, signing Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City and Ashley Young from Inter Milan, but the Midlands outfit aren’t finished.

Football Insider say Villa are lining up a move for Leon Bailey who impressed at Bayer Leverkusen last season. The 23-year-old is highly-rated and coveted by a number of clubs across Europe, so he’d be quite the coup.

As a result, the story has gone viral on social media and there’s a lot of excitement among Villa supporters at the possibility of signing such a talented player.

Bailey joined Leverkusen from KRC Genk in 2017 and has gone on to make 156 appearances in all competitions, scoring 39 goals with 26 assists. The Jamaican international is coming off the back of his most prolific campaign at the BayArena, scoring 15 goals with 11 assists in 40 games.

If signed, Dean Smith would have Bailey accompany Buendia, Jack Grealish, Bertrand Traore, Anwar El Ghazi and Trezeguet, so Villa would be overstocked in attack. Reports say they’re in pole position to sign the 23-year-old, so time will tell if they land their man.
