Aston Villa enjoyed a 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon and Matty Cash played a full 90 minutes in front of supporters at Villa Park for the first time.
The 24-year-old joined Villa from Nottingham Forest months into the pandemic, so he’s been used to playing in empty stadiums. Cash really enjoyed playing in front of a full crowd recently and marked the occasion with a post on social media and picture on his Instagram story.

Against Newcastle, Cash had 53 touches, won two aerial duels, attempted 32 passes, made three tackles, had one shot, made three clearances and made one interception.
Cash has made 30 appearances in all competitions for Villa, notching two assists, and remains a regular at right-back in his second season – the Englishman is ahead of Frederic Guilbert in the pecking order.
Villa’s opening game defeat to Watford had many worrying about their hopes for the campaign, but they quickly turned things around. The Midlands outfit travel to face Barrow in the League Cup on Tuesday evening, but Cash may be given a rest.
