Frederic Guilbert was an unused substitute as Aston Villa held Brentford to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon, but the 26-year-old found the best way to cheer himself up if his Instagram story is anything to go by. Guilbert took partner Noémie Boutry and their daughter to Disneyland Paris, sharing a gallery of snaps on social media.
The uncapped French defender has made only one appearance in all competitions this season, scoring one goal with one assist. Guilbert was left out of the matchday squad in Villa’s 3-2 defeat to Watford and 2-0 win over Newcastle United while being left on the bench against Brentford, so he may soon grow disillusioned in the Midlands.
Dean Smith has preferred Matty Cash at right-back and has Ashley Young who can operate in the role, so it remains to be seen if Guilbert will stay beyond the summer transfer window. The 26-year-old has made 32 appearances in all competitions since joining on a four-year deal from SM Caen in 2019, scoring three goals with three assists.
Guilbert joined Racing Strasbourg on loan last season when he wasn’t getting playing time and may seek another move away this campaign if things continue.
