Fans excited on social media as Leon Bailey returns from injury ahead of Chelsea clash

Aston Villa travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday evening and they’ll have Leon Bailey available for selection after he returned to training in the week.

The 24-year-old has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since Villa’s opening league game in mid-August, but Villa confirmed on their official website that he’s back for Dean Smith.

Supporters on social media saw a clip on Twitter of Bailey training ahead of the Chelsea clash and can’t wait to see him in action this weekend. The Jamaican international made an assist in his only Villa appearance and will hope to add to his tally if he features on Saturday.

Smith has used new-boy Emiliano Buendia and Anwar El Ghazi on the flanks, but Bailey could replace the latter when ready. Big things are expected of the 24-year-old after he scored 15 goals and made 11 assists in 40 games for Bayer Leverkusen last season, but he will need time to build up his fitness.

Time will tell who gets the nod against Chelsea, but fans should see Bailey in some capacity at the Bridge.

In other news, Gabriel Agbonlahor names which player could leave Aston Villa

matchday.
