Aston Villa re-signed Axel Tuanzebe on a season-long loan deal and he’s already made four appearances across the board this campaign. It’s the 23-year-old’s third stint at Villa Park (January 2018 – May 2018) (August 2018 – May 2019) (August 2021 – present) and could be his last.

Tuanzebe left Manchester United this summer as he wasn’t guaranteed first-team football following Raphael Varane’s arrival from Real Madrid, and The Sun say he’s now open to staying at Villa permanently.

Tuanzebe has made 37 appearances in all competitions for United but boasts 39 appearances at Villa, so he’s better off staying in the Midlands for the sake of his development. Fans on social media are delighted with the news as they’ve wanted Tuanzebe permanently ever since he first joined.

Bjorn Engels left Villa for Royal Antwerp over the summer and Villa caught wind of Tuanzebe’s availability, so Dean Smith now has an enviable array of defenders – Tuanzebe, Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa, Kortney Hause.

How much the 23-year-old will cost to sign remains to be seen, but United should be accommodating as they clearly don’t have him in their plans.
